Whats the strangest thing you bought at a farm auction?

Yesterday I went to a consignment auction and came home with a set of rear tire chains for my tractor ($10.00) and a aircraft ejection seat just because I thought it was neat. I assume I'm not the only person who has gone to a auction and found something strange to buy what have you guys bought?

I once bought an imaging mirror from an aiming system out of an M1 Abrhams tank (just in case I find a tank to go with it!) bill m.

Consignment auction 3 years ago I came home with a working human baby incubator from the 70"s. Sold it to a lady that raises high $ dogs. 3 weeks ago came home with a set of bagpipes at a consignment auction. Sold them to a guy that drove 2 hours 1 way for them. I go to a couple auctions every week, buying stuff to sell on Ebay and Craigslist. Pete

Couple tins of Civil Defense biscuits packaged in '62. Still edible but I only had a tiny nibble. One of the ingredients was ethylene glycol. Dogs loved em. Looked like and packagead like graham crackers.

Local guy didn't pay taxes so gov came in and confiscated everything and sold it at auction. Bought some tire chains cheap along with a couple chest coolers for $25. Opened lid and had 2 fifths of vodka, 3 fifths of Canadian mist. Cheap drunk for quit a while. They should have looked through some of the stuff before selling.

A 1952 Ford coupe, the engine was rebuilt and the brakes rebuilt and all chrome parts re-chromed, Frame was painted black and the body green, the front end was sandblasted but still un-painted. There was 4 bids and I got it for $700,00.

Ethylene Glycol keeps 'em from turning into 'Hard Tack'. Not enough to damage your kidneys, but stale is stale, no matter the age.

Best price I got at an auction - 15 years ago I bought a Remington 788 .243 for $120. Then I screwed up and sold it for $250 while I carried it to the car. More than doubled my money in an hour but now I would have rather had the rifle.

was at an auction years ago, friend of mines dad bought a truckload of bowling balls for 5 dollars. they came from an old bowling alley. sorted thru em and got some that fit him, then junked the rest.

I'm an aircraft mechanic and that's mainly why I bought it. The charge is the only thing missing on it but I'm still happy to have it. Not many farmers where interested in it, go figure..

A retired farmer worked part time in a shop with a lot of punch presses. He had an auction. I bought a 200 pound box of die springs. Was going to use some of them for something. After 30 years and not using one, they went to the scrap yard.

Not sure. Bought a rifle pouch for horse mount that I mounted on one of my tractors and use. About the one thing that I bought that I still haven't used is a 100' rope about 2" in diameter. That is one serious rope. Haven't used it because have to use a front end loader to lift it, and it fills the whole bucket.

Ejection seat, huh? Wanna combine them into one serious rope swing from an awefully tall tree that can support a lot of weight?

A hula girl lamp once and the big stainless steel contraption with several hot water heater elements in the bottom, not sure what it is.....
