Do I really have to crack the injectors?

Hi, I changed out my fuel filters and I have bled the filters, and the injector pump. Do I have to crack the injectors?

There's only one of me, I can't crank the engine and crack and re-tighten the injectors at the same time. I could go get a helper I suppose. I just figured I'd ask you guys if that is really necessary.

Oh, it's a '66 Ford 5000.

Thanks,

Troy

I ususally just crack the easiest one to reach....the engine will run with it cracked, no need for two people. If I can get to the others I will crack them and spin the motor for about 10 seconds then tighten them up.

I do it by myself when I have to. You loosen the injector nut crank the engine and watch the fitting. you stop cranking when you see the fuel come out. You"re going to get some diesel on the engine but that can"t be helped.

Thanks for the replys, I got it! I bled out the filters and the injector pump, then cranked it a bit and after running a bit rough for a few seconds, it ran like a top. No need to crack the injectors.

I just finished cleaning it up, and got it out of the shop today. I'll post a pic tomorrow after I find the right cord for my camera...

Bye for now,

Troy
