Used to find them like that around here, once every few years. NO MORE! Turkeys apparently keep them cleaned up. Lots of turkey signs in my secret favored areas. No morels. Sob, sob.

I have only found one little bitty morel so far this year. A friend of mine who come out from time to time found a good number of them. Been to hot and dry this spring for them it seems

Looks like you're pulling them out by the roots. Would be better to cut them off with the knife than pulling them out. Have a better chance of coming back in the same spot next year.

Absolutely. Either pinch them off or cut them off. Also keeps them nice and clean in the gunny sack.

I don't know what part of Mo your in but the wife & i have 120 acres almost right between K.c & Springfield. So we went down today took a little st role, picked up I think she said we had 76. they were not big nothing to brag about but we will have super breakfast in the morning. can't wait!! Seems a little dry in the timber if we get rain Monday & tuesday, wednesday should be really good

Flock of twenty in the field adjacent to where I was disking earlier this week. Don't seem too worried about humans unless they're carrying a shotgun.
