OT Chicken wire

Hey all, I am building another chicken house and using 1x1 18ga welded wire. I like this stuff as it keeps most everything but mice and bugs out. Lasts forever and looks good, but!
Installing it can be a pain. Anyone have some cool tricks to flatten the stuff as it comes off the roll? I usually drop a weight on the loos end and walk it out, but one false move and the stuff springs up and attacks you. I"ll get it done one way or the other but I just thought I would ask.

Would a couple of 2x4s and a couple of C clamps work?

Sandwich it between two boards using bolts to retain it. Staple one end in place, pull out the other end and staple.

You can substitute C-clamps for the bolts; you can then hook stretcher chains or ropes to the clamps.

Completely unroll it and then re-roll the opposite way but not as tight as it origionally was. Won't be perfect but at least you won't have to fight it. Jim

Thanks guys, Jim i thought of that but this is a 100 foot roll. I"ll probably flip it face down and pull out a section at a time. This is a good size fixed house ane i will use over 200 square feet of it.

So put the pulling boards at the length you need (somewhere in the middle?), pull, and fasten. No different than a woven wire fence, just not so heavy duty.
