generator belt

The generator belt on my farmall h is loose. It is on the inside of the water pump belt. How is the water pump belt tightened? The only thing I can see is that it is tightened by rotating the fan belt sheaves. Thank You

Yep that is jhow you tighten up the belt. Loosen the lock nut and or screw then you move the outer part to tighten it up. Warning it is easier to tell you about it then doing it. Most have been years since they have been moved and can be a pain. A brass punch and hammer work well to move them just be careful

Yes be careful, you can break the water pump trying to loosen that pulley. To tighten the generator belt you have to loosen and turn the generator pulley.

You said the gen belt, the tightener is on the gen. Oil it up and turn it in.

You have already got lots of good advice about tightening the belts. Not mentioned is that you need to be really careful to get the set-screw back into the groove in the pulley hub so as to not damage the threads for the next guy.
