My friend was showing me this 1969 case lawn tractor he
got. It's a kohler 12hp with hydro drive and hydro lift. He said
he found year by engine serial number. Did they have hydro
in 69?? It has a fan and oil cooler in front of the engine. He
says there worth up to $3000 fully restored. I really don't
know to much about it, anybody have any comments?

IH had full hydro in '66 or '67 on Cub Cadets, wasn't to long after that they came out with the Hydro farm tractors.

yes Case made a Hydraulic drive starting in 1964, these were not a hydrostatic drive, these were able to do things a "hydro" could not such as power various implements such as tillers, chippers, grass vac's and log splitters to name a few, these pics are from the 1970 buyers guide cnt

Thanks for the neat pics! His looks just like that, except some one painted it JD green and yellow?

The motor drove a hydraulic pump, "Cross" brand,
I think. A "Char-Lynn" hydraulic motor,gearoter
type, was coupled to the differential. They lost
power, when warmed up, or hot, due to oil
bypassing a worn out gearoter. A direct bolt on
replacement "Gearoller" type motor gave longer
life.
