Out of hibernation and all started right up...because we drained the darn E10 out of them this time!

My MTA, 300, 560 and 79 F150 all started a couple of days ago, after sitting 5 months. Last time they had gas added was in June of 2011. No additives either.

Guess what it was E10 fuel.

Had the 4020 (diesel) running a couple days ago. Wouldn't start mid morning (after 20 degrees F overnight)! Put the 24 volt charger on it. Started after lunch.

Same here, parked them in the shed last october, left the gas in, went in today, drained the carb on the 37 F-20, turned on the tank, second turn of the crank and it fired. Put the battery back in the 49 F-5, pulled the breather, gave it a short snort of fresh gas, as soon as it turned over it was sounding just like a flathead V8 should. Gonna get to the JD 60 and 46 A tomorrow.

Fired the 720 D up this afternoon. Even the pony fired right off. Had to put a jumpers on the 620 though. Battery had gone dead over winter. That one is running on E10 that was put in late last summer with no additives. I didn't see any water in the sediment bowl either and it always sits outside. The pony has E-10 in it also from last fall.

Parked all mine with full tanks of E10.

Guess what?

They ALL fired right up this spring.

There must be something else going on here, some other factor combined with the E10 that is causing problems.

Back in '73, we'd just bought our first farm. I bought the 8N and mower that I think my hay guy was trying to hide from the bank; then a McCormick W4 or 800 bucks, then my "main" tractor, a JD 420! First nice day of spring I went out to the machine shed and started them all up. Was just standing there watching them run, wife comes up and asks what I'm doing. Told her I was just "enjoyin' the moment".

Put up my first hay that summer- 8N and MF Dyna-balance mower, W4 and AC PTO rake, and 420 (live PTO) with a Ford baler. Fine time had by all.
