OT-Is it just me?

Found this ad in the local craigslist-

"4-row Industrial Harvester (IH-56)Corn Planter. 36" center. I have used this corn planter every year for the past several years. It is well maintained and ready to go. Comes with the hydraulic ram. I cover it and keep it on blocks for the winter. Works great!"

Do people not know what they have even though INTERNATIONAL is on the planter in plain sight? And people that don't know how to spell the brand even though it's right in front of them when they take a picture. Makes it hard for a guy to find it when doing a search.

Just an observation I guess, but just makes ya wonder sometimes.

There are some awfully ignorant people out there arent there. Dont know the brand name of their item when its printed right in front of them!

I see crazy stuff like that on CL all the time. I was looking at a riding lawn mower one time that was "in good condition" then later in the ad the seller mentioned that 'doesn't run, may need a new engine'.

Huh???

I have the same problem with people asking for help with Onan units. Tell me they have an Onan genset that will not start or generate power. No other information given. No model number or serial number.Nothing to go on.

Can"t necessarily blame the people although most times it is
there fault ifn they"re using a smart phone to post the add it
changes the words to what it thinks you want to say and
unless you go back and reread it you"d never know just my
observation because I have a smart phone that"s not as smart
as it thinks it is

Well, they pulled it with their John Deer, anyway. Just a Case of misspelling. They just have New Ideal how Versatill that planter actually is.

Kind of goes along with the same lines of my favorite Craigslist ads. They have NO IDEA what the H3ll they have but certainly have an idea what it worth.

I was looking for tires last summer on CL, gave specifically the size I wanted, and I couldn't believe how many replies I got that said they had them and I called/went to look and the size wasn't even close to the same.

I see bailor, bailer, tracter, haybind, and all the other common ones too. Just makes it hard to be seen when it doesn't come up in a prospective buyer's search.

Does get irritating as well if you search for plow, and you have to wade through all the snow plows and garden plows to get to the real plows. I think they should just have a separate section just for Farm, and skip the garden crap. May eliminate some of the riding lawn mowers from being in the same category as the 200+ HP articulated 4wd tractors.

It bugs me too - both my parents were teachers.
Guess I figure it's their loss, as they are limiting
the hits their ad will receive.

I have gotten some good deals on craigslist by searching for commonly misspelled words. People cant find the ad, so the seller thinks no one is interested in it, when really if they spelled it correctly they probably would have sold the item right away. My favorite is the Shibaura diesel engine. I have seen about 10 different spellings...

It could have been from a grammar or spell checker. I've had some errors slip by with Microsoft Word/Outlook.

Whenever I install Office I immediately (try to) turn off the auto-correction. I've got the latest Outlook and I still haven't figured out how to turn it off.

Yup, that one always gets me.

We have a local-ish penny saver called "Uncle Henrys". I read it as much for the laughs as for the deals. Some of the ads are hilarious. Unintentionally so and in this PC world it's no doubt considered mean-spirited of me, but it always cracks me up.
