OT Florida events and my experiences delivering books

I agree that the events about the shooting in Florida was bad for all.

Two of my jobs were delivering payroll checks and books for amazn. About once a week delivering books I would be accosted by security or neighborhood watch person as to what I was doing. About twice a year I would have a gun pulled on me - alot rides on what you do in the next 10 seconds.

I have found a lot of Cop wannabes in our local neighborhood watch groups, but they are only ones that want to do it.

Cop wannabes is exactly how I'd put it. Keeping an eye out for anything suspicious in the neighborhood is one thing, but some self important armed nutjob,no. From what was reported,he called the cops, that was enough. He had no business aproaching the kid as long as he was just walking and not trying anything illegal. Just keep an eye on him til the cops get there, that's enough.

it is a guy like this that will get all of are guns taken away i dontthink we need guys like him going around playing cop leave it up to the pros

I agree. There are types of individuals who have a serious desire to be in charge. It probably borders on a psychopathic disorder. It is a sorry event and will not cause any good. Its even sadder that the usual suspects are beating the race drum. I'm about sick of that.

I agree that it's a sad event.

Speaking of the "race drum" the media doesn't mention the shooter's ethnicity. If the story was different and the shooter had been the victim of a white nut job they would.

Like the "pro's" in NYC who killed that unarmed kid a few years ago?????? Some of those pro's leave a lot to be desired.

They did state the shooters race, "white hispanic".

Florida was bad. When we lived down there driving a rental car out of an airport was considered suicide. Eventually the rental car companies started buying the vanity/cause tags so the cars weren't identified as lease units. One incident I remember was a British couple on vacation, they flew into Florida and rented a Towncar form Budget. They were here for almost a month and traveled across the Eastern US. They were on their way back to Miami to turn in the car and fly back to England. They stopped and took an in-car nap at a rest stop in Northern Florida. Their car was attacked he was killed, she got to the hospital and stated "5 black guys jumped the car killed her husband, shot/beat her and robbed them" The local sheriff rounded up suspects for questioning, with in an hour the local NAACP is suing the Sheriff because he only brought in black suspects for questioning. The NAACP doesn't under stand that kind of junk really effects how others look at the black community.

What I dont like is that the trial is taking place already in the media. And external_link is making comments on it......Not needed.
Bottom line you cant shoot someone if they are not in your house, and you are not a cop.

We can all say anything we want about the incident, be it for or against what happened. Ultimately none of us were there, none of us know what happened, so any opinion given will be no better than those opinions given by the Al Sharpton's, and Jesse Jacksons of the world.

I do know about the incident is that based on news reports I have heard, the local law enforcement has done their investigation and found absolutely no discrepancies between what the guy said happened and what the evidence tells them happened. That being the case, under Florida law, the guy had the right to shoot in order to protect his own life so he is guilty of nothing but self preservation.

That said any of you guys out there that say you wouldn't do whatever was necessary to protect your own life, or the life of your family, or whomever......be it in your house, on the street, in the middle of the afternoon, or at midnight in a dark alley.....are lying your a$$ off.......or so simple minded and confident that when put in a situation where seconds count that the cops are only seconds away instead of minutes away......... But that's just the opinion of someone that wouldn't hesitate to shoot any SOB that threatened my life before they had a chance to follow through on their threat.

Nobody has all the details yet, the media does not report about the kids own mother kicked him out of her house because she could not control him, looks like he was up to no good and got caught.

I agree with Northvale- I've known/know a number of individuals in law enforcement who are like lone 12 year olds amount a group of men...trying too hard to look like men themselves. The gun, the carry permit, discussions about calibers and "stopping power" all become part of their scary act. I figure if they're ever placed in a position to use it, they'll either cr@p down their leg or use it prematurely. Also know more lawmen who are fine people doing a tough job...can't pay them enough. Don't know anything about this case. We'll all be judged accurrately soon enough and vengeance doesn't belong to us...
