Ih 1086 vs ac 8030

Depends on where you are and what you have for dealers. Around here,I'd say it's almost a toss up. Former AC Acgo dealer is right across the road from the CaseIH dealer.

We have a big agco dealer about 70 miles away which is not that big of a deal since almost everything we need is about that far away we do have a case ih dealer right in town and a John Deere dealer that ain't worth a rats a $$ The 8030 I'm looking at is four wheel drive and has a loader for 15,000 and the 1086 is 2wd with no loader so the 8030 is buy far the better tractor for what we need I just wonder how the parts support will be for the 8030 according to tractor data there was only about 4000 made

I'm not sure, but there was a time, around that vintage, that AC was using transmissions and rearends made by White. If that was the same as a White 2-135,2-155,they were bullet proof and there would be a bunch more around than just the 4000 that were 8030 ACs.

So far AGCO has been real good about parts and that 670 engine is almost bullet proof. The cab on the Allis is one of the better from that era and the Allis is a bit newer, if the loader and 4WD are what you need I dont think you will go wrong, if all other things are equal (tires, hours,etc.). Whats the price on the 1086? Can you find a loader to compare apples to apples?

They were an upgraded 7000 series tractors. I'd be worried about availability and price of components outside the engine. I've heard the local independent mechanic here that specializes in AC has indicated AC transmission parts from that era are getting hard to find. Too bad as I always thought an 8030 would be a decent way to go based solely on features.
Around here trade or resale value on a late AC is kind of poor so if the OP is considering moving the AC in the near future he should take that into account, too.

8030 trans and rear should be the same as a 7045. Engines are easy to find in Combines. Cab is better than the IHC and the trans is more user friendly. Remember the Torque in a 1086. If you are very tall can't stretch your legs, in a IHC. I am bias towards the AC. lol Vic

thanks for the replies guys the 1086 is ten thousand dollars and I figure a loader will cost four or 5 thousand. I'm not to concerned about the engine in the allis as I am other parts the Tractor is for a friend and he can screw up an anvil with a plastic hammer but I do like the allis alot better because it has the loader and 4wd a two drive loader is about as worthless as t!ts on a boar pig for what we do

Maybe its just the ones I drove with worn out shifter linkages but I can't think of a worse tractor than a 1086 to try and run a loader on.

I'd want a tractor with a direction reverser or a full powershift. Some tractors not equipped with those features are better than others. JD with a Synchro-Range and some of the Fords for example.
