Over filled my transmission

I changed the trans fluid on my JD 410,and over filled it by 3/4 inch on the dip stick. With my luck if I remove the drain plug I risk dumping all the oil, before I get the plug back in. When checking the fluid should the dip stick be screwed in or just set on top. Stan

set the stick on the threads without threadin is my guess and from what i know of jdeere

And if you don't take out the excess fluid, you run the risk of blowing a seal... DAMHIK!

You should be able to get a turkey baster down there to suck up the excess pretty easily.

just set the dipstick on the threads and check the hyd oil level with engine running

the only time you screw a dip stick down on a deere is if it is printed to screw it down on the dip stick.And that much is not going to hurt it, if its like most 410 s i have worked on it will leak it out soon.
