just got done helping my friend fix his that was tornadoed a month ago. is that an irrigation canal or drainage ditch. we have irrigated cotton here, but no lake water to speak of to irrigate with-hopefully a little more rain might help.

My phone or this site wouldn't allow me to log in to post so I created an account for the phone. LOL. It is a irrigation canal, we get water from a series of lakes to the west of here. The system was put in in the late 40's. I have a well on the upper end of this field that went bad and for the cost the pivot was about the same to install and will be way more efficient and economical. I have watered the lower side of the canal for years with gravity and set tubes before that. That tornado twisted pivot was fun to fix I bet Elmer.

OK, time to learn something new. What kind of bridge do you use to cross the canal?? Is it permanent or something you just throw across??

Tim

It is a steel truss style bridge that lays across. You anchor them down but they can be removed if needed. They are different lengths from 30' to 42' depending on the angle of the arch where they cross.
