Corn Seed Sizes

I have an Earthway planter that does a good job on sweet corn. When I try field corn for food plots it plants way too heavy. What field corn would you recommend that is close to Peaches & Cream seed size? If I can find a plate that works for P & C, I should be able to find field corn that matches that plate size, correct?

Can't help you with the planter, but was wondering how you like the P+C sweet corn?

Take the plate to a seed corn dealer,he can match the seed size to the plate. Then set the planter gearing to drop a seed 6 to 8 inches apart.

Are you talking about that little single row planter you push by hand? I used to have one and thought it was pretty useless.

I DID find that their pea and bean plates worked well with certain type of corn seed.

I have had one for a lot of years, just about wore out the opener on it. If it plants too heavy, just block off every other opening with duct tape. Double check your spacing on some bare ground and adjust accordingly.
