Gasoline Price

I guess it would all depend on what mileage you get, how many gallons you need and if your time is worth anything. For me 10 gallons at $.10 is a buck, which isn't worth the extra 15-20 minutes to drive over there through stop lights. Now if I was going to be getting 80 gallons, then 8 bucks is worth my time since travel time will be much less of the total time spent getting gas.

In a car no, in a larger truck yes. It is all about the true savings. If you are only getting a few gallons than the saving will not pay for the added distance. If I was filling a thirty gallon tank then maybe.

Example: My semi gets 6 MPG. So the trip would burn about 1 1/2 gallon of fuel. At $4.00 per gallon it will cost me $6.00 for the extra distance. So I would have to buy sixty gallons at 10 cents cheaper to break even.

I do this calculation on a daily basis while driving the semi. Many times you are better off to just buy the higher but closer fuel.

I know what you mean about having to figure everything in. For me it's the IFTA crap that hurts. Being from Concord and working in the Charlotte area alot, I get down close to the SC border on occasion. There the stations just over the line in SC usually have diesel 20-30 cents a gallon cheaper than NC. Unfortunately I can buy all the fuel I want at the cheaper price, but if I don't burn it all in SC I have to pay the tax difference back to NC every quarter. The nice thing is that charging 1.50 per mile and getting about 5 mpg, every bit saved adds up exponentially.......Unfortunately every time fuel goes up in price, I lose exponentially too........

I'd drive a hundred miles out of my way even if the gas cost more if there was a pretty little blond working there.

No. But I do buy gas in another town. When I am up there to the grocery store. For some odd reason. At times it is almost 15 cents cheaper.

True story about Friday. Headed to the fertilizer plant. Gas was 3.71 back an hour and a half later. It was 3.64. Unloaded back to the plant gas at 3.59 came back gas at 3.65. Don't understand how the price can change that quick. Plus during all of this diesel was at 4.04 and never changed.

My truck has a 36 gallon tank If it needs 30 gallons at $3.95 per gallon it will cost me $118.50 in my town If I drive 12 miles south it's usually a nickel cheaper per gallon $3.90 = $117 Sometimes its a dime cheaper per gallon = $115.50 I wouldn't drive that 12 miles for $3. BUT my truck gets filled about once a month and I try to fill it when I make a trip down there to shop.

I figure that it cost at least 40 cents a mile to operate a vehicle with fuel, wear and tear and depreciation so 20 mile round trip would cost about 8 bucks. So without counting what your time is worth you would have to get at least 80 gallons.

Nope.

Have taken to quit drinking moonshine, now running it in the Jeep and Buick. I syphon diesel from my neighbors for the trucks and tractors. Sadly, they do the same thing, so its a wash.

There was a black haired girl. At a station on I-45 in Ennis Texas several years ago.Lots of guys stopped in. Just for the view.

Depends on if I was just filling up the car or if I was filling up the farm fuel tank. Just the car it would not save any thing. The farm fuel tank on the other hand it would probably save enough to be worth it

No i would not drive more then a mile to save. But anymore i do not think people even look at price . And for the most part how many pay with CIF ( cash in fist) it is to much of a hassle when payen with cash . First ya have to pull up to the pump then go in and pay then back to the car-truck and pump , all the while the person setting waiting on you to do this is flipping you the bird for holding them up. But they do not think about the fact that they are paying way more then i did with CIF as if they don't get that card paid off before the next billing date they payed how much more in interest . I see it here in my town as Speedway is always the first to jack prices twenty to twentyfive cents a gallon above the rest , but if you drive five blocks east you may save up to 30 cents a gallon . Nope they flock to speed way and whip out the card and go , why because the other station requires CASH . And OH the place that requires CASH we get better mileage off there gas like two more per gallon . For some reason our Durango is real fussy about what gas goes in it Speedway Wal Marts gas(Murphy's usa) gas B/P and a couple others run thru it like water . Shell and the place that requires CASH the Durango has more getty up and go and will avg. 15 mpg running around Shell will do the same . Out on the road it will do almost 18 The others will do between 12.-13.7 and 15 on the highway an be real doggy on the hills. The wife-WAR DEPT. does a lot of driving with her job with the girl scouts and keeps real good track of mileage and fuel use and where the gas was bought .

If they have a pretty girl working there and if the coffee is fresh and the bathrooms are clean and if they have alot of free condiments that I can pocket and they have a pinball machine and free food samples then the answer is yes.

I stop for blondes and brunettes and will back up 50 feet for a redhead. (down by the trailer park) (;>))

No. I usually drive past one that's a little cheaper when I'm hauling cattle, but the other one is easier in and out with the truck and trailer.

NO. I use a credit card, Bank of America, it gives me 3% back on gas. If gas is $4, that's $.12/gallon and I don't go out of my way. Some gas stations will give you more back if you by their cash gift card. So, I use the BOA card get 3% and buy the stations gift card and get another 2%. That works out to $.20/gallon on $4 gas and I do very little work.

This is a little off the topic but here in our area some of the large grocery stores offer .10 per gallon off for every $50.00 worth of groceries purchased. Maximum of twenty gallon at a time. It doesn't take long to rack up One or Two dollars a gallon off. One of the stores gives .10 per gallon on gift cards purchased. I buy Lowes gift cards because Lowes is in the same shopping center. I always make sure I get the full twenty gallons. Works for me!

Yes! We do have two gas stations locally. The Sinclair is always 5 to 10 cents cheaper than the Casey's, even though they are only a block apart.

I use lots of gas, 86 miles per day rural route.

Only problem with the Sinclair is the constant line. I fill up at the end of the day, or before work, if no lines. But often have to just pay the extra at Casey's I don't want to wait 15 minutes to save $1.50 on the fill up.

When it comes time to buy gas and diesel in 5 gallon cans I will drive the 34 miles round trip to save about $20.00 total. Next town over is always cheaper. DOUG

I got an email this morning that said they are ripping two ways. Said to run ten gallons exactly and the pump should show ten times a single gallon costs. Another thing is you fill your tank and then swipe the card thru the slot and then you should look at it, it may not be for the amount the pump said on your receipt. be sure and get the receipt!...ohfred
