The bull and me, update

I posted about a bull calf my father in law has. Well iv been up there feeding his cows since the 8th of march. I go in the barn whisteling and talking softly, I also put the grain out a ways in front of him, that keeps him from standing back in the stall, so I can scrape down behind him, put mulch hay in the gutter ect,So far he hasent kicked at me! Iv worked around horses for 23 years, and cows for 10, I'd rather work with the horses! Oh well all animals are different. Lol

Glad to see you made a new friend. I just thought of something, they got an old radio in the barn? The old timers used to leave one on all day and night.

Yes he has a radio, but it only comes on when we flip the lights on.

If I had to be kicked, I'd rather it be by a bovine. Cow is kinda like a baseball bat. Sometimes you can see it coming atleast. Horse is more like a shotgun. Kaboom outta nowhere and its gonna hurt.

You are on the right track, you will win him over by his stomach. But when he is out in the yard with his cows, stil keep an eye on him.Even when you are friends, he is still a bull. Bruce

I don't want to be friends with him, just to not get kicked by him! Lol. I'll be done up there by the time they go out to pasture.

Getting kick by a bull is the least of your worries. We lost two older ranchers last Spring in our valley;one got battered by a bull and another by a cow. So be wary of them.
