I'm changing the T Belt on 4 cyl diesel. Question: Do I need to take valve cover off to make sure valves are closed on TDC on #1 cyl or can I just line up all the marks is all required. I'm thinking that just all marks in lineup is ok. Help. Thanks Ed will

You might want to get a manual especially if this is an interference engine (valves will hit pistons if timing is off). Roll the engine to TDC and check timing marks, if they don't match turn it 360* to TDC and they should match. You should be okay then, the manual may tell you other things you should know like torque values, belt tension additional service required and other things you want to check or replace while you're there.
