Diesel Tank in Pickup Bed

Just wondering if anyone would know off the top of their heads if one of the store bought L shaped fuel tanks to carry fuel for tractors and such, that have part of the tank under a cross the bed tool box would fit in a 1982 Chevy SHORT WHEEL BASE pickup. I know they will work in a long bed, but not sure on a short wheel base. Any one know? I can get the measurements, but the truck is in one part of the country, and the fuel tank is in an other. Thanks for any help - Bob

You may run into some interference with the wheel wells. The beds are the same width,IF they are both fleetside beds. They take the 2 feet out of the front of the bed which puts the wheel wells closer to the headboard.

A regu;ar 105gal L shaped will not fit a swb. It wount clear your wheel wells. They make one thats specificaly for a short bed. i think its a 96 or 100 gal. Id have to look at mine to see for sure. It will say on the tag somewhere that it fits all trucks and bed sizes. Just went threw this last year when i got a different truck and my previous truck was long bed and could only find a short bed to replace my other truck with. only way the other tank fits is if you turn it lenght ways and use up your whole bed.

If your tank is shaped like this, it will fit.

If your tank is shaped like this, it will NOT fit.
