John Deere 494A, 694A Planter Question

Do I need sunflower seed plates and a spacer ring to plant sunflowers with my JD 494A planter or can I just use soybean plates?? Thanks for any information regarding this...

I have always used a corn plate for large flats. A soybean plate would plant them too thick.

I wanted to plant some black oil and a giant variety last year, and used this sunflower plate. The two blackoil seeds fit great, the giant, striped seed didn't. The plate is a BO30-24, and a BFR-2 filler, worked great.

This giant striped seed fit in this B7-24x, no filler, corn plate great, but the blackoil would have doubled and damaged drops.

Sadly, after both the black oil and the giant seeds came up, the dear picked the leaves off them. But the stubs of the plants were placed very accurately. Mark
