Afternoon Everyone.

After the considering everyone's comments last week on my video showing how the tractor ran, I gave it a tune up consisting of a new distributor cap, points/condenser, plugs and a new OEM air filter.

I made the mistake of never checking the gap on the old plugs but did this time and about 95% of the misfiring stopped. It does run for a few minutes and cut out still but had the video I shot not deleted itself would demonstrate how much better it sounds.

Black/grey puffs come out of the exhaust when you start her and it clears out .

Any idea what would cause the tractor to just cut out like that? It also surged once as well but other than that the engine has a deep throated sound coming out of the vertical exhaust. :)

Stopping after a few minutes could be electrical. Use one of the old plugs to see if there is spark (blue and strong snap, not yellow and thready) if not check the coil by substitution.
If the fuel supply to the carb is restricted, it will run for one minute or less then sputter and die. Choking will only make it better for a second then it will die. Fuel supply issues. It should run out of the line at the carb fat as a sweetheart soda straw. Jim
