Anyone out there know about Ford/New Holland Wiring? I have a 4835 that is giving me a fit. The Battery goes dead every two days. It is a brand new battery and I did load test it, I have had the alt rebuilt and it did have a bad regulator in it. I have put an amp meter between the neg side of the bat and the neg bat cable with the switch off and there is no current draw. I am thinking there has to be a short to ground some where but I don't have a clue where to start looking. It is a cab tractor with a/c. Is there a common place that these tractors had a wire rub? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

If it's not drawing anything when you have the ammeter connected in series between the battery and cable then I'd say there's nothing wrong with the tractor... I generally use a current clamp for that... you need to know that the ammeter IS good.
If that's the case I'd say the battery has an internal short. I think I'd get a good set of goggles, gloves and whatever other body armour I could find... carefully remove the cables so it doesn't spark, get the battery out of there... then remove the caps and dump it out somewhere. If there's an internal short it could explode at any time.

If your ammeter does not read in the millivolt range then it is not telling you anything. If you are using an ammeter that is made to show charge or discharge in a normal charging system, it will not show real low amperage that would drain your battery. I usually take a test light and put it between the ground cable and the battery terminal. If it lights I then start unhooking things until I get it to go out. If a test light does not light then I use my multi- meter that will read amperages in the millivolt range. If it shows a draw I start unhooking things again until it shows no discharge.

Also charge your battery up and let it set unhooked. I have found many that will test fine on a load tester but will drain down setting for 24-36 hours unhooked.
