Safety gas cans

I ordered a 5 gallon "justrite safety gas can",and I've used them for at least 35 years while in business. They sent it and it has the filler and pour spout on the same side of the can, I can't believe they'd stamp them out like that. They always put the filler spout on the opposite side of the pour spout. One thing I did notice was the pour and filler spout can be removed from the can when the filler starts leaking when trying to fill the lawn mower. But I can hear them now when I try to order a replacement filler neck, Oh! we don't make that part any more and you will have to order a new can..

Perhaps ordered by the EPA, can't vent gas cans any more, you need to spill the gas diectly on the ground with current ordered designs?

The $9.99 gas cans at tractor supply are pretty darned good for CARB-compliant jugs. At least they don't leak.

I though we were supposed to be REDUCING oil consumption.

All this CARB/EPA/emissions stuff just WASTES fuel either by burning it senselessly in the engine, or by dumping it straight on the ground.

I don't get it.

All my cans came from the side of the road. Most of my caps are the Mia Tia cocktail sorts with just a rag stuck in the filler spout.

...yeah, I know...

Every safety gas can I have ever used has leaked far more than a normal can. They have so many different parts to prevent spilling that at least 1 always leaks! Plus, they don't have vent holes, so they pour extra slow.

After watching gas station blowing up I now fill the gas can on the concrete. Many many don't so I don't have the answer - other than on plastic gas containers I ALWAYS fill on the concrete. Again I am not really sure other than it make me feel just a little better. Watch the guy coming for gas for the lawn mower and put the full container in the front seat - so who knows who's what to do - the sky is falling - the sky is falling.

Justrite has the same can I've always used and it's a better can than the eagle safety can. When you tilt the justrite can it opens the opening on the side you tilt it too. It also cracks the filler opening for vent when pouring thru the flex spout.. They just sent me the wrong can and I waited sevral months before I opened the box, When I ask them to exchange it they said it was the one I ordered..

(quoted from post at 15:45:54 03/07/12) I think you got your companies messed up. You should have bought an Eagle safety can.
Eagle Cans

I'll second the Eagle can. I have one that is 37 years old that I just bought a new funnel for. I bought a new one two years ago so that if the power went out while I was away and my wife needed to fuel the generator, she wouldn't have to wait twenty minutes for one of those foolish new ones to empty and spill all over.

I'll bet that saves them one punching operation - instead of punching holes on either side of the top, now they just do one larger one for the spout/filler -

probably saves them .0002 in labor per can.
