Well got it planted March 1st and its sprouting should have a stand next week if stays warm . Last year was to wet until June 1st, corn didnt make that late

I'm envious. It's 8 degrees F this morning. On a good year I get my early corn in early May and my late season SE corn planted in Junej (central NY).

Heck I finally got around to placing a seed order last week... Won't be putting seed in the ground until the end of April at the earliest, if we have a warm April...

My Dad raised sweet corn for the early market.Started planting early and planted every week. That way he was sure he had the first ready for the market.Always panted at least one Acre at a time. I rember one year it was up about 4 inch tall and we had a heavy snow and it went fown to freezing. The snow covered the corn with just the tips of leaf showing. Turned warm and snow melted Corn not hurt and had a good first crop. If you are going for the first market seed is just a small cost of the market. gitrib
