OT Music question

I suspect I'm in the midst of Country fans here, but I'll ask what's your favorite music genre?

I Like it all, got a pretty good size collection of country, Oldies, etc. My favorite is Rock. We have Direct tv. A few weeks ago found a channel we had not noticed before HDNET 334. They have a bunch of great concerts on that channel, Friday and Sunday nights. Right now watching one called the Prince's Trust. Some sort of charity concert mixed artist, Tom Jones, Queen, Eric Clapton, Clapton is still amazing with a guitar.

Farm Aide is going to be on at 3am, recording it.

Polkas and more polkas. Maybe an occasional waltz if the band has a good tuba.

Preacher once asked a group of us what our concept of heavan was. He was startled when I told him driving a stock car with an i-pod playing polka music in my helmet.

I guess we all tend to like the music that we grew up with. I like "classic country" which I knew in the 50s and 60s. I was a teenager when Rock-N-Roll was hatched and we jumped on that like a chicken on a fresh horse biscuit. Over the years I have learned to like a certain amount of Jazz and I can tolerate a certain amount of classical music. I have a sizeable collection of vinyl albums and cassettes, and now I'm starting on CDs.

I grew up in the 70's listening to both rock (Dad's choice) and country (the old 'crying and dying' kind...Mom's choice). In high school it was more country (Alabama, Little Texas, etc) than anything else. Even though I listened to alot of country I still liked the 'hair metal' groups like Van Halen, DefLepard, Dokken, etc, etc, too.

Nowdays I've found a station that plays a mix of pretty much everything so I get to hear the "oldies" (ie 60's), 70's rock, 80's rock/hair metal, and a smattering of country. The really great thing about that format is I can listen all day and they never play the same song twice. I love the variety.

Hey, Wayne, which station is that? I'll have to try to pull it in. right now one of my favorite stations is WLHC, 103.1, in Sanford.

AOL radio it is a free online radio you can choose a station anywhere.

I like old country , country gospel southern gospel, Bluegrass, and western (country swing)

It's 98.7 Simon. Their motto is "We play everything". Based on the commercials they are out of the Winston Salem, Greensboro area but I can pick them up better, alot of times, than some of the stations more local to me. Being down in Sanford you might be too far away to get the signal but they may have a sister station closer to you, I don't know.

Jimmy Rodgers, the Williams boys (Hank, Hank and Don); Lefty Frizzell, Jim Reeves, Tex Ritter, Faron Young, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Tom T. Hall, Bobby Bare, Marty Robbins, Dolly, Reba, Roy Clark, John Conley, Charley Pride, Mighty Merle, Willie, of the old country bunch. Ray Charles goes in as a special mention. Pretty sure I’m leaving out a few. Then the newer (relatively speaking) crossover ones such as Elvis, Roy Orbison, Ronnie Milsap, Glen Campbell. Again, I’m sure I’m forgetting a few from that era. After that, I pretty much wasn’t paying attention

And Claude King. How could I have forgotten Claude? He lives only about two miles up the road from me.

I like quite a bit and dislike some.
Don't care for the bigband stuff or the techno and not real crazy about the "new country" some folks try to pass off.
What I miss here is country music radio stations. Local station plays an 2 hours of mostly 20+ year old country music on Tuesday evening.

Used to tell folks that I liked BOTH kinds of music... Country AND Western....

50's 60's early 70's Rock. Country music from anytime. Jerry Jeff Walker is a favorite along with Waylon and Mr cash.

If it ain't bluegrass,it ain't music. Only other thing I listen to now and again is classical when I'm in the mood.

I like pop from the 50s and 60s like the Beach Boys, rock from the 60s and 70s like Led Zeppelin, more rock from the 80s like Def Leppard, and country from any time period.

In school I liked rock cuz that was what the cool people were supposed to like. But, I liked the Beach Boys type stuff and early 80's pop/rock. Then I tried country for a while. Listened to "classic" rock for years cuz thats what the guys at work aalways had on in the shop. Actually, All this time, I really like classic country.60's on up. The Possum's my favorite. There are a few, very few new country guys that still sing "country". Bradley Gaskin comes to mind. If you want to hear a good song about the state of country music try "murder on 16th ave" (I think thats what its called).

60's, 70's and 80's rock, heavy metal and hair. Country from about 75 to the late 90's, can't stand the old coulntry.....there's a tear in my beer.....cause I'm a whining cry baby.....really hate that stuff. I will listen to classical but it's gotta be turned up.
