Does anyone have any knowledge of the 1970's Lamborghini Tractors. I picked one up at a good price as it had four new tires that were the same size as my Long. I couldn't buy the tires for what I paid for the whole tractor. I bought it not knowing if it runs. Anyway, I am thinking that I am going to try to get it going as it is in good shape and I was going to start looking for the small pcs. that are missing. I am looking for the grill& front emblem and any info I can get.

Neat little tractors- rate right up there with Porsche. Almost as fast in the field as an ETD.

Same was around before Lamborghini but it wouldn't surprise me if they have merged try the Same dealer or you might look on Flea-Bay or google it you might have to deal with a dealer in the mother country I wouldn't try until after Easter.

The Lamborghini tractor came before the Lamborghini car! The story goes that the founder of the tractor company bought a Ferrari car and told Mr. Ferrari himself that he was not satisfied with some aspects of it. For one thing it was continually burning clutches out so Enzo Ferrari told him in no uncertain terms that if he thought he could build a better car himself then go and build one. The rest, like they say, is history.
You may need to go to a SAME dealer to gets parts for it. They became part of the SAME group some years ago I remember during the 1980s a lot of parts between the two marques were indeed interchangeable, the biggest difference being The SAME had an air cooled engine and the Lamborghini was water cooled.

If the link doesn't appear or work copy and paste.

Sold out to SAME in 1972. Lamborghini tractors got started after WWII and were made from military surplus. Car company began 10-15 years later.

There was a 350 for sale in N central Pa for about a year. It belonged to a buddy of mine. The seller adverzed it as a barn find. My buddy said it had gear issues when he sold it.

SAME bought Lamborghini and Hurlimann in the 1970s to form SLH.

Deutz bought Allis in 1985.

Allis/AGCO was bought back from Deutz in 1991.

SAME bought Deutz in 1995.

AGCO used re-painted SAME tractors in their line-up during the early years, but they were never one company.

I believe right now SAME is the largest tractor manufacturer in the world aren't they? Thought I remembered reading just recently that they build tractors for every other brand in the world, including Deere.

Thanks, Everyone and keep em comming. I found this one In NW PA but it was told to come from NY. This would be one of the SAME owned Lambo's. I will get some pictures on soon. I found a guy who deals with SAME close to me. I still don't know much about it. I know it has the FL1003 engine, It is a 3cyl, air cooled deisel. When I got it home the starter didn't work. The starter had a lever like the old Deere's(I thought was odd)Checking it out I found it was a 6V starter from an 48'Chevy PU. Wondering why, I called to check on the correct starter and it is around $400.00. Some crafty, thrifty fellow noticed the gear and bolt pattern were the same and turned down the nose a hair and got it to fit. For $60 I am having the chevy starter rebuilt to see if this thing runs. All the wires for the original starter are neatly tucked up out of the way so If it runs I may spring for the correct starter and plan thoughts for a restore. I know most people don't like the 70's tractors but this thing neat.

I recall hearing that Lamborghini was started by a guy that worked at Ferrari and thought he could build a better car than Ferrari's design. I think he succeeded even though Ferrari is a bigger company. Ferrari made tractors too.

Ferruccio Lamborghini tried to buy Ferrari but Enzo wouldn't sell so Feruccio decided to get into the car business and build a better car. The rest is what legends are made of.

Here's a link to SAME's history. If I remember correctly, the Cassani brothers bought the Lamborghini tractor line in the 70-s.

These guys helped me out with manuals for my SAME. Good people to work with. http://sameparts.com/

If these guys can't get parts for you, you're not likely to get anywhere with SDF in GA. SDF seems to focus on current models. Not to worry though, you can go direct to Italy. That's what everyone is doing now.
