Isn't It Ironic? The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

We saw a very interesting sign in Yosemite park last year, it said. Please don't feed human food to the animals, it will make them fat and their hair will fall out.

That's a good statement. I had to chuckle because it's so true. They drive to the store in a car that's nicer than the car a typical wage earner drives while they're smoking a pack or two a day. Then they go home to watch the new big screen TV because they don't want to do anything else. Granted, there are some unfortunate folks out there that do need the stamps because of conditions beyond their control, my daughter was one of them for a short while, but I'll betcha they're the minority of the recipients. On the way ??? Last month and several times since I have seen a commercial that says, Everyone in this Country owes over $300,000 to pay the national debt.???Good thing my credit is good !! I never got to waste that much before .8>Z

I got an email forward today that says that the information in nearly all email forwards is complete baloney. Distorted at best, completely fabricated out of thin air at worst.

I suspect the information that started this thread arrived in an email forward. Draw your own conclusions.

The National Park Service is part of the Dept. of the Interior. The Forest Service is part of the Dept. of Agriculture. I work for the Forest Service.

Well.............you ever see those don't feed the bear signs they're talking about? In the forest or interior? Welcome to da' forum, yo!

Feeding people that don't work creates imigration problems and elects crooked politicians. Not too complicated but we can't seem to understand it.

Whoa up a minute. I thought they quit giving out food stamps a few years ago. It was supposedly very traumatic for persons of welfare programs to be seen giving a stamp or coupon to a cashier for grocery purchases. They are now given a credit card called a SNAP card- "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program", because it makes them apppear to to have a good credit rating and can qualify for a credit card. That makes it 'less stigmatizing' to be a low rent. Saw one used in a supermarket last week. The cashier told the woman she couldn't use it for dog food and would have to pay cash for the Alpo. She handed the bag to her kid, and said, "Leroy, takes dis back and go gets dat dog a steak or two."
