Having seen what all you can get done in a day, you will have it running today. You get more done on a Sunday before church then I get done all week. I have been building a set of duals for my Case Farmall tractor. I am embarrassed to tell you how long I have been working on them. So I won't.

Those old d361 and d407 engines do not use 'keepers'.Just torque em down to specs, that is all that is required.

I am glad those motors are built proof because that has to be the dirtiest overhaul i have every seen.I feel sorry for those new pistons.

yep i was just waiting on that reply. i have never seen this sort of overhaul either. a person usually has every thing clean and then install pistons. carbon deposits in cyl's do same damage as throwing metal in there . glad its not my tractor, and if i saw that the mechanic would have his as- chewed out. this is an example of a patch job.

Sometimes a quick-and-dirty patch job is the best way to go. When I see a motor going together dirty because of a lazy mechanic, I will object. Lyle, now, I don`t know that he would qualify as lazy. I guess I have been involved in one too many in-frames done on a gravel bar in the wind, or under a parachute at -40 degrees to think `ol Lyle is doing too bad of a job.

Well my opinion is that atleast he is fixing it there is plenty of lazy people who would just part the tractor out which is why there is fewer tractors out there, I would gladly spend money at a dealer to buy new parts if if meant another tractor would be saved from being tore apart by a salvage yard baboon, i know there have been lots of tractors overhauled in less than ideal conditions working great for lots of years,
so how many hrs are on the 1206 lyle? Is it a complete wheat land with the wide swing drawbar?

dont understand why you would say that is a dirty overhaul? Everything was cleaned. I guess if the paint dont look new its a dirty overhaul. How @#$#@ stupid do you think I am????

ust so you know, this is a patch job, there is no carbon build up on anything. Im not going to spend a bunch of money and time on a 500 dallar tractor.

Does it it make sence to spend $5000 on a $500
worker?Hell no!!Those morons who say its"dirty" or
its a"patch job"have never been out in the real
world. In the right place a "patch job"is quite
acceptable. My'old' 706(310 germam) was patched with
a used sleeve and piston from a cotton picker almost
5000hrs and 25 years ago. This year I expect to put
400+ hours on it year. The '7' now has almost 11,000
hrs on it.

i guess if the real world is putting something together half aced i guess i have never been there.Where i am from you work your ace off and do thing right the first time. But than again a have to count on my equipment and so do the customer i do work for.Down time is a lost of money and i cant afford it.By the way a 1206 is more than a 500 dollar tractor but a 706 on the other hand.

FYI thats my $ 500 tractor , and thats all it was worth with that piston gone. I asked Lyle to stick a new piston and liner in it so it could go in the spring consinement sale, if im lucky I should maybe get $3500 for it from some unsuspecting farmer, leaving it a little unwashed like that helps ,dont have to work it in the field too many hours to get it covered in dust to cover up telltale signs of our overhaul, from there who cares, BTW will post Auction companys web site if any of you fellas want to put a bid on it, they have internet bidding in Canada you know, ..

next time you have a 500 dollar 1206 with a bad piston let me know. i will take a truck load of them i have seen four sell this year.they was all rough and worn out and still brought 6500 to 9500 dollars
