Watched the bull riding during supper meal.was wondering about the great anouncer Donny Gay. he sure made the ride interesting. Now it's all B.S.anouncing.Was wondering how many on here raise rodeo bulls? May just end up in the grinder for Mc Donalds if not good enough/ I always cheer for the bulls. LOU.

I been accused of pushin the point,an holdin work up. But there ain't no way I'm gonna try to hold a 1600# bull down---

Don't raise any but as younger man (high school) used to ride them and bareback. Tried Saddle Bronc but could never get the rope right.

Maid it to Idaho state championships in Riggins, ID twice only to thrown. My Dad still has my bullrope and bareback rigging.

Haven't watched rodeo since high school back in the 70s. Was a big fan back then. Don Gay was the bull riding champ, and Larry Mahan was the all-around champ for the the umpteenth time. Can't think of who the doninant roper was. Mahan was like the Richard Petty of rodeo back then.

Can't watch bull riding! My first cousin was stepped on by a bull, after being tossed off IN the chute. Happened on a Marine base, so he got the full military funeral.

Donny Gay had a plane in the hanger just down from ours.Talked to him many times. Real nice guy not stuck up like a lot of sports people. Someone asked him onetime if he was afraid when ridding bulls. He told them Hell Yes. Your crazy if your not afraid.

I think he still owns the Mesquite Rodeo Arena in Mesquite Texas. Haven't seen him in years.
