Talking About Concrete, Math question

I started moving equipment to a job we will begin next week. 7.4 acres of concrete various thicknesses 11,000 tons is what I have figured. It has to be taken up and run through a crusher all of it has to be smaller than 1.5 inches. Anyone have an idea how big a pile that would be?

RBNnSC,

I ain't know kind of injenear, but if you just cyfer it like this:

7.4 acres X 43,560 sq. ft. per acre = 322,344 sq. ft.

Assuming the average depth of the concrete is 6 inches, then:

322,344 sq. ft. X .5 ft. depth = 161,172 cubic feet

If your pile were 100 ft. by 100 ft., the height ought to be about 16 feet high (give or take) so, 20 feet high sounds real good to me.

But then again, I'm just an old farmer.

YMMV

161172 cu. ft. agreed, better throw conversion from compacted to loose volume on. I'd use 1.2 gets you to 193406. No adjustment for repose angle. Approx. 90 foot diameter 24' high. Assuming radial stacker not moving with a approx 70' conveyor length. Info from Superior radial stacker website.
Are you ripping this out with hoes, dozer ripping, rubblizer? Interesting project. Airport?

It was a nursery. 4 acres of green houses the rest driveways, walkways, and loading docks. All but one building is already gone. The developer wants it all for road base material. Will use excavators. Will post pictures once we get started.

If sand or corn or salt, etc is dropped off the end of an elevator, a conical pile will form having a height always equal to its diameter. I think!

Oh, and V=1/3 Bh ie 1/3 pie r squared x h Therefore the height (h) should be 3 times the Volume divided by pie and half the height squared.
