my buddy rents his wood splitter out. guy brought it back the other day held up his hand lost a finger. splitting wood. I said how hell did he do it.my buddy said don't know but he is the forth one to do it.ouch!!

Always thought that next to having to cut somthing off on purpose (to free yourself) that would have hurt the most. Remembering back years ago my uncle had neighbor lose hand in one. They let their young son operate controls and from my understanding it was a fast machine. Dad lost hand at the wrist.

I dont' think I'd even consider renting out my splitter.

I haven't loaned any tools to anyone since I loaned my buddy a crowbar and he brought it back all screwed up.

Follow-up splitter rental: My Dad related story to me from local rental place mechanic. Sent out new Honda powered wood splitter with week-enders wife.(1st time out)Explained to her about fuel shut-off ect. Sunday rolled around and renter wouldn't answer phone about splitter being over due. Mechanic knew where they lived and took a run out to have a look. Dumb s**T was building a split rock fireplace and had wedged a rock between ram and wedge. About that time engine with the fuel valve shut off had run carb out of fuel and the guy had spent 2 days tring to get splitter running and rock dislodged before returning it. Needless to say it was hooked up and went right back with mech.

I don"t borrow tools and I damn sure don"t loan or rent them out. Took me too long to buy them and I don"t buy junk.
