So much for early detection. The guy got sick Dec 20th and died 2/14/2012.Jan 12, 2012 they diagnosed him with 4th stage cancer of unknown source. He got regular checkups and they saw nothing coming. Modern Science my A**.

Your like a Target in a Dark room, the Doc throws a dart at the target, and hopes to hit the mark, but your just a guess like a target in the dark.

My sister died in 2008 after a few months from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. It started with a lump on her neck and we kept telling her to find another doctor. When she went to a new doctor he took a biopsy and sent it to his lab. When the results came he called her and my nephew in to his office. He told them up front that he had bad news that she wasn't going to survive to get all her papers in order. She had her will, insurance and deed to the house for my nephew. Hal

one of the unfortunate aspects of living in the country is sometimes for doctors we get the leftovers or they don't see enough patients to keep their skills up in diagnosing things out of the ordinary. They're afraid to consult and have to arm wrestle the insurance company if they need to or want to send you to a specialist.

I had a cousin and have heard of others with a two month timeline. Each case it was pancreatic cancer. The 4th stage of unknown source does sound questionable. Shouldn"t take an autopsy to figure it out.

Death is very painfull for many of us when I lost my brother a few yrs ago it was a painfull shock to all of us. Blessing to everyone

You are right about this it wa a young doctor and he had already made a wrong diagnoses on her I had asked several times for a specialist and all I got was the opinon of a radialigist. When we told him we were changing doctor his remark"I sure hope they cold figure it out I could not"

When my mother started complaining about her throat burning and having problems swollowing she was told by her doctor she just had bad heart burn. After a little bit her doctor went on holidays so she she went and saw his replacement and was told right then she had assophical(?) cancer. If it had been caught the first time she would have had a chance. From begining to end it was just a few months.

If I got cancer I would want to go fast. Brother suffered 5 years fighting it before he died. Dying fast isn't a bad thing. Not suffering is a good thing.

Im very sorry to hear about your loss.

My dad went to the VA twice a month for 15 years. Nobody ever noticed that he had cancer. They did not find it until it was stage four.

He still made it another (terrible) year.

I know how you feel. My brother died at age 43 from a very rare form of cancer. He did not have any health insurance, could not afford it working on dairy farm. He had what he thought was a hernia but it turned out to be cancer.

So sorry for you and your family, will pray God helps ease the pain; thats one drawback about living in middle of nowhere. Great doctors with hundreds of thousands of dollars in student debt and fantastic skills go where the large population centers are to make big bucks. I really like my family doctor but told him if I get very sick or you dont know what it is I am headed to UVA in Charlottesville VA, seen what they did for my 18 month old daughter VS what locals said.

My condolences. And I agree with your comment about modern science. My wife was diabetic, and when she began to have problems, the doctors blamed it on that. For two years they tried different treatments for her diabetes. By the time she began to have other problems and they checked, it was too late.
She lived less than two months after being diagnosed. We hate to lose our loved ones, but under such circumstances, when you think of it, they are better off, we are the ones still suffering.

My mother is currently ending her life with this,..but I am thankful for every day that I speak to her. There is no other way to put it for now.

Your comments are a bit surprising. I really thought I was the only one that did not think Doctors walk on water. I constantly hear on the radio that we have the finest medical care in the world (and most expensive). My mother died recently after a year long fight with cancer. My view of the medical system did not get better with more exposure to it and more involvement in it. Unfortunately they see us at our most vulnerable. Kind of like the tow truck driver that comes along when you are stranded in a blinding blizzard, 10F below, and 30 miles to town.

You are really at their mercy. Hopefully it all works out fairly, but sometimes it is not what you hoped for or expected.
