Getting ready to fire this ol dog up. Waiting on the oil pump to get here. I was wondering how or if I can prime the motor. I'm guessing that where the tack drive is I can remove the soft plug and get through there to do it. Thanks again.

Unscrew the oil pressure sending unit and pump oil
in there. Use a 20 40 to prime. I use a pump
oilcan with a small rubber hose as an adapter. Pump
until it feels hard to pump. This might fill the
oil filter, so prepare to fill the oilcan several
times. Jim

I should clarify my post better. I was wanting to use my drill and run a shaft off it to the oil pump to prime. If I can't I'll do it through the oil sender. Thanks for the advice Jim.

Yes, you can turn the oil pump with a drill, if you left the camshaft out. Janicholson's method is the only proper way to do it.
