Farmhand F10 Grapple

I have an old f10 that when you go to pick up a bale with the grapple it will not stay clamped down. When you grab the bale and let off the lever you can see the grapple relax a little and it will not hold on to the bale. Also it acts like it is not squeezing the bale hard enough. Anyone have any ideas what may be wrong? There is a deal that looks like a pressure relief on the grapple valve and has a return line to the tank. Would this be bad. Thanks.

You have a cylinder with an internal leak or a valve with worn parts,or both.Your loader is simply worn out.

The grapple cylinder has a pair of fiber cups on the piston that look like water well cylinder cups. They turn to mush and the oil just leaks by in either direction. With loose hay they lasted a long time but moving round bales shortens the life considerable -- to about 2 years sometimes. They should be available and are not hard to change, just messy.

Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that I had changed the control valve and it didnt help. I will look into the cylinder. Thanks again.
