2006 Chevy 6.0??

I've got an 06 Chevy 2500 4wd, ext cab, 5 speed manual that's got about 74000 miles on it. I'm figuring it's about time for a tune up. What's the best plugs and wires available? Note I said best, not most expensive, if the best turn out to be the most expensive, so be it, but that doesn't seem to be case with all these gimmick plugs out there now.

I think you are a little early, but there has been some talk about the Bosch plugs with multiple electrodes improving mileage.

I bought the truck used and it didn't have an owners manual with it. First vehicle I've ever bought that didn't have one. I know a lot of OE plugs are calling for 100k mile tuneups, but my mpg's has dropped a mile or two that last few tanks so I just assumed it was getting to be about that time. No miss in the engine that I can hear nor have there been any codes.

remove a plug and have a look,as if you send it to a garage it will not come home with the old plugs. that will tell the story. hardly think it will need wires. dont think there is anything better than oem plugs. might want to add some of that injector cleaner to the gas.

I thank the Gas doesn't have the power today that it had just a few mounts ago, they raised the price and cut the quality

I put plugs & wires on mine 2000 6.0 at 80000 miles, with 1700 hrs on it( farm truck idleing low gear) used AC. I have noticed I need them again runing a little rough 123000 mi 6000 hrs. I think I will stick with AC.

Autolights or AC are fine, change the air and fuel filter while you are at it. Cap(if it has one) GM, wires aftermarket speed shop wires. auto Zone, O Reillys, Napa etc.

Plugs are good to 100K,wires even longer. When you hit that mark, only AC Delco should go back in.

Replace air and fuel filters and run it to 100K.

Good Post
We've got an 02 2500 with the 6.0 gas and haven't touched it beyond regular maintenace(cept for a fuel pump at about 45,000 and fuel solenoid at about 75,000 miles).
Kinda running like a dog now at 149,xxx, but HOPE a tune up will clear that up!

Earl is right about the Bosch 4- electrode plugs. Best I've ever used & mine've been in 3 years now & still getting 2 m/gallon better than originals.

Better change those spark plugs now.Saw some plugs that went 133,000.Gaps were at .080, Electrodes worn to a sharp point.1 plug had gas on it,another was oily and a third plug was all antifreeze.Son parked the truck at nite, engine locked up next morning.06 Gmc,I think misfiring wrecked engine.I think 100,000 is risky on these engine. The early GM HEI ignitions ate spark plugs.New engine wont stand the abuse like the old ones did.GM has a lot of trouble with flex plates cracked all around. Some think faulty crank shaft positoner makes the computer advance the timing 50 degrees on starting is breaking the flex plate and starters.
