chevy 4.8 question

2001 silverado,4.8 engine, 50K miles, occasional noise comming from muffler, or catalitic converter, almost like hitting it with something. Truck runs good, Is this an indication of something wrong? Just noticing it in last month or so. Anyone else run into this?? Thanks.

Sounds like the ceramic has busted loose in the converter. It's annoying but won't hurt a thing except the epa's feelings.

M man has it,could just be the shield rattling aginst the converter..sometimes just needs a metal screw to make it quiet

at the dealership here we put a 2 hose clamps (i know its huge) around the muffler and shield and holds it tight. any dealership should have the strap as its a bulletin from those years. cheap clamp and you don't make any holes to rust out.
