Kubota injection pump leak

I have a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel engine on a large Toro mower and it is leaking fuel around the top of the pump at the delivery valve as the parts book identifies the spot. The parts book shows an O-ring possibly on the bottom of this piece. Can I remove the injector line, unscrew this fitting/cover and replace the o-ring to stop this leak. Gene Davis

Depends on make of pump if it should be attemted on engine. Diesel Kiki/Zexel pumps OK, if Denso, depends how pump is assembled, some have no barrel locating pins to keep it from turning with valve holder loostened or removed. Is set on stand and held in place when holder is torqued, have seen barrels turn and throw off equal delivery when field repair attempt is made.

Been my experience you can't get it back in same place and fuel delivery will be more or less. Can take to injection shop and they can set delivery but most want to charge 700 to 1000 to do this. Takes them about an hour. Maybe you know one who will treat you better.

Just had my 3 cyl Kubota in the shop. They had to rebuild the throttle block to stop the leak. $509 for rebuild, wanted $700 for new block. Feels like a rip-off to me.
