Carburetor question - Farmall Regular

Husband wants to know if there are supposed to be any gaskets used on the Model R Carburetor for a Farmall Regular (other than the gasket which goes between the carb and the manifold.

We bought a couple inexpensive carbs for parts... and one of them had a homemade gaskets between the "lid" and "bowl-parts" of the carb - so he just wondered if they originally came with gaskets.

Any help would be appreciated. Have a good day.

I've never worked on a Farmall regular carburetor, but I'm sure it SHOULD have a gasket between the top and bottom.

No, there originally was not a gasket between the 'lid' and 'bowl-parts' of the carb. It might be a good idea to put a gasket between the top and middle part of the carb, this will keep gas from seeping out when the tractor is moving and the gas in the bowl is sloshing around.

I've never put gaskets between the bowls, but I do usually put one in the strainer cup, and under the needle seat. While your there, I usually take the cork float and coat it with gas tank sealer. Also, make sure your throttle shaft bushings are tight, I reamed mine out and put a small Briggs & Stratton valve guide in it.
