Circulator wood stoves

Thinking of buying one for the shop, just need to heat about 600 sq ft. Rural King has a Ashley circulator on clearance for around $350. Was wondering if that would work or should I get a regular wood stove on a pedestal with a blower. You input is greatly appreciated. Mike

Hey mike, for 600 sq ft ya dont need much of a stove, you saw the pics of my wood stove, well that stove heats my shop and my shop is 3300 sqft with a 16 ft cieling. I dont think you need a blower on your stove, if you have a ceiling fan that would be much better. Just my 2 cents...Lyle

I agree, don't buy a stove with a fan, all the ones I have been around are noisy! I used the address locator and it says you are east of St Louis, you wouldn't need a very large stove, but the older Ashleys were very good and controllable stoves, and the price sounds good.

Well, here is my homemade shop stove.
End of a 500 gallon propane tank with a 16 inch truck rim for a door frame. Burns whatever goes through the door. It is being enjoyed by my two shop supervisors.

I have a 30 x 40' building with 2" foam insulation. I use a "duplex" parlor stove (for either coal or wood) and it heats the building good enough to work in there. BUT--I have two pedestal fans blowing on the stove from different angles to carry the heat away. Very little noise.

No wonder I cant find my maul, it's sittin right there in your shop! Lol ;) pretty neat wood stove too!
