36 coupe??? Fence charger???

Hey,
I have these parmak 6 volt solar chargers. Just came into the possibility to get plenty of 12v 7AH, 14AH, and 24AH gel batteries. Will the smaller one (7AH) ruin the fencer? Or if it only is half charger (6v or so) will the solar panel just maintain about 6 volts or will it still overcharge?
Or, is it an easy switch to make a 12v battery work on the 6v fencers?

I know a guy that hooked a 12v battery to a 9v fencer and worked good but was stolen in a week so don't know the lasting effects.

Thanks, Dave

You would have to use a resistor to use a 12 volt battery on the 6v charger. The problem is that these chargers draw a lot of current when the scr conducts. If you size the resistor to limit voltage to the circuit board it will drop too low and limit out put.Running a gel battery at half voltage will kill the battery. The 6v battery that comes with solar chargers it rated a 9 amp hours.I would use an auto battery.Livestock will lick a lead acid battery, they think the acid bite is salt.Battery powered chargers are often put in side a bee hive to hide them.Only works with solid state chargers. The price is going up on the 12v Mag 12 charger.Add a solar panel to your 12 volt batteries and put the rig up on the roof.Bee hives are wired up here to keep the bears out.A school bus driver parked his bus againt an electric fence so gas crooks left it alone.

Have several of the 12 V (non solar models) so will get the bigger of the batteries available. Just have 3 or so of the 6v models that I'd like to put back in working order without the price of buying/shipping batteries.
