Gleaner K brakes

I am trying to get into the brake drum to replace the wheel cylinder. Is there anything other than the set screw that holds the drum in place? I can't seem to get it free where it will slide back off of the hub.

I have worked on the brakes of an F, and I would think they would be the same. It's been so long now, cant recall much. I was thinking there was just a cap screw and washer that held it on the shaft. Dont recall a set screw. I think we let the manual go with the machine when we sold it. I'll look through my books though.

Good luck, Gene

Thanks Gene. You are correct it is a capsrew rather than a set screw. In looking at a parts diagram I think that is all that is holding it in place, but like I said I'm not 100% sure. I didn't want to start framming on it and tear something up if there was more to it than just the capscrew holding it in place.

I would take that screw out, then hit it with a little penetrating oil, put a pry bar or big screwdriver behind it, then gently tap on the hub with a brass hammer. It should, (should being the key word here) come right off.

Good luck, Gene
