My brothers friend made some beef jerky
For us last week, he maranaited the beef with some habarno pepper, and other spices then put it in a food dehydrator for 4 days, it was really good. Anybody do this, what kind is a good dehydrator? my brother dident know what kind his friend has.

I make a lot of jerky out of ground deer meat. I seldom make two batches the same, I like to experiment.

I have an Oster circular dehydrator, it takes about 7 hours to do a batch.

I make deer jerky every deer season, usually harvest 7 or 8 deer just for jerky each season. It's a big hit with my family and friends and they all brag about it. I'll soak the deer meat in ice water for 5 days, then I'll marinate the meat for 24 hrs using Moore's marinade, Worchestershire sauce, Liquid Smoke, and a concoction of several spices that I mix up together. I'll cook the jerky for 8 hours then. A lot of work goes into my jerky making but it is definately worth it. I wouldn't do this much work to try and sell any of it cause nobody could afford it after I put a price on it.

4 days ?????? did you have anything left??? made 5 lbs. today got about 1/2 pound when done. have a cheap dehydrator but make sure it has a fan in it

Ya we got a pound, maybe it was 4 days for him to go get the meat, maranate it and dehydrate it, I don't know,,but it was good

Been making mine from venison or beef for years. My kids got me an American Harvest dehydrator to get me started. I've created a monster, now they want it all the time.

I have an Open Country brand dehydrator. Not the top end model but does a good job. I got into making jerky last year and like the others have said, no two batches are the same. I have been using packaged seasoning but often combine a couple flavors. Would like to mix up my own cure/seasoning.

Just what is jerky? Something tough? Hard to chew? Can't even chew chewing gum with these jaws.

Cut venison in strips, roll in mixture - half sugar, half salt, and smoke in Brinkman smoker. Over charcoal fire, with a few handfuls of wet wood chips thrown in from time to time to keep the smoke up. Choice of cherry, hickory, apple wood - whatever is at hand.

been making my own jerky for years now, we have 4 american harvest 9200 series dryers with 12 trays on each one, it takes about 7 hours to dry it down, it goes so dang fast around here with the kids an grandkids, we dry alot of fruit from our trees also. better then you could get in any store

I do deer jerky every year, I grind it, mix in all of my spices, load my jerky shooter and
use my my oven. VERY LOW HEAT
I can do 15 lbs in a little over 8 hours;
