I need some help.

I noticed the other day that my pto is loose. I can grab the pto shaft and move it up and down and I do have a small leak there as well.

I suppose I have some worn bearings and I'm wondering what I'm up against as far as trying to fix it myself.

Any input or advice would be much appreciated.

You can buy a bearing or a PTO shaft assembly with
the bearing already installed. 4 bolts and the old
shaft can be pulled out. (park your front wheels in
a ditch if you don't want oil to run out...or drain
beforehand and put fresh oil in when done) Not a
hard job. Check archives on Ford board for more
details if you like...

Not all that hard a job but you should ask this in the ford forum and also get an I-T manual FO-20 so you are not doing things blind.

Alright.

Let me get my ducks in a row before I ask down there. I'm starting to get an idea of what I'm up against from y'alls and soundguys old post on the subject.

I got thrown off when I was looking through the 641 parts department on here and didn't see anything offered for the 641 as far as a shaft assembly goes.

Exactly,...I was asking way too many questions in this site when I got my 641, ..then I discovered that most of the answers were in the books that support the tractor.

I did forget to say this. As for pulling it out the job is pretty much pull 4 bolts that hold the bearing housing in the rear end and pull the shaft out. Then you take out the PTO shaft from that housing and replace the bearing and seal. Ya there is a bit more to it then that but the I-T manual has that covered and you pretty much need that to work on them any how

I appreciate it.

I'll look at my manual tonight.

One quick question though and I'll leave you alone until I get it figured out. Where do I order the bearings from?

I looked at PTO parts here in the 641 and 601 section and only found the seal.
