O/T: '95 Dodge truck, no spark at plugs?

'95 Dodge, 5.2L, auto. Just quit, like you shut it off. I can hear the fuel pump cycle when I turn the key on.

Pulled the wire off the coil, stuck a screwdriver in it, cranked it over, has spark at the coil. Pulled #1 plug wire off, put an extra plug in it, held it on the intake while my son cranked it over, no spark.

I have a Haynes manual but it doesn't give me testing procedures, resistance values, etc. for the crank and cam sensors.
I've been told that the pick-up plate in the distributor is the weak link in this setup. I'd like to make sure before I go buy parts.

Anyone know the troubleshooting steps for this?

Thanks,

Anthony

Even if you have spark at the coil, you possibly have a bad coil. Very common problem on those engines. I keep a test coil around because I see quite a few of them. For some reason, those coils will fail but pass every test.
Hope this helps,

If you have spark at coil your problem should be downstream. Ck coil wire ,cap and rotor. Once you get spark at the plugs ck back if it doesn't start and I will show you what to ck next. I think the way you describe it a new cap rotor and wires will start it. ASE master and L1
