In the last two months I have had some health issues taken care of.
1) I had Lasik surgery to both eyes and cataracts removed. I can now see much clearer. Matter of fact it is hard for me to weld right now. The arc is too bright. If I set the helmet dark enough not to hurt my eyes then I have trouble seeing where I am needing to weld. I will take that over needing glasses to read with though.
2) I had some of the shrapnel removed from my back. When I was originally wounded they said that the removal would be more dangerous than just leaving it be. So I have had back/nerve pain for over forty years. It got so bad last year that I rarely could sleep all night. Plus I had two places that if I bumped up against anything they would just about take you to your knees.
They removed all but two pieces last week. Even with the new tools they left the last two in. I can still feel them but over all it is 100% better. What was the most surprising is that how small of a hole they used to do the work. Then it was only sore for a few days.
Regardless of the old tractors/equipment we like to play with, the good ole days of medicine are now, not years ago.
It amazes me the things that can be done today. See a baby's heart repaired while it is still in its mother's womb. I have several grand kids that would have died just twenty years ago but are completely normal with todays care.
What will my grand children see done??? I had a great uncle die from appendicitis. Now you have a little scar maybe two inch long. So what is next???
