View from the canal road. Several hundred acres. Pictures taken today. Red arrow is onions. Blue arrow is cabbage. Green arrow is sugar cane. The canal road runs between 2 canals, an upper and a lower. The canal in the foreground of the first picture is the lower.

And this is the upper canal which feeds our imediate area. The water comes out of the Rio Grande River to a large holding tank, then pumped up into these raised canals for gravity flow irrigation. You can see to the left, the field being flood irrigated. This is in deep South Texas near the Mexico border.

nice pics,, my Dad spent winters in Harlingen before he passed, he had some friends that raised veggy's between there and McAllen cnt

Nice pics. Lots of license plates from Iowa, Minnysoda, etc down there this time of the year. I have fond memories of working in a citrus packing shed in the 70's near Harlingen. At break time we would grab a navel orange the size of a grapefruit off the cart and enjoy the unbelievable flavor of tree-ripened citrus.
