OT Last weekends project

I have been less than impressed with the table on stage at my church. The pastors decided it should be less formal than a podium, but this matches nothing!

I had the idea of taking my cues from this backdrop, and make an oak table with similar design.

Started on this Friday afternoon, stained it this afternoon!

Needs 2 coats of satin poly, and it will be done!
 
Nice work, something to be proud of!! For the last couple of years I have been using Tung Oil finish and really like it. No chance of a run and very easy to touch up if it gets scratched. Makes a very "soft" looking finish.
 
i believe i ate a burger and fries off a table that looked exactly like the top picture at Hooter's in Davenport,IA few years back...ya mite wanna check where the elders been garage salin ;)

St. peter is at the pearly gates and watching the stairs up to heaven. Anold man is slowly making his way up the stairs. St peter is watching this for quite a while when the old man finally gets to him he asks "what did you do when you were alive on earth?"
The old man responds" I was a carpenter"
St. Peter then asks him "did you have any family?"
The old man responds well I had a son who wasn"t really my son, and i guess he really wasn"t a son either"
Jesus had been patiently waiting in the sides starts to choke up and steps forward and says " father, father is that you?"
The old man responds "Pinnochio are you there?"
Probably going to be overly warm for a long time over this one.
 
Kind of like working hand in hand.

God made the tree with the art in it ( beautiful grain)
then together given the ability to turn it into another art form... Seems to me they worked together on that one.
 
Thanx for the compliments! The pedestal is a 6" square box, with 1" x 1" sticks attached, spaced equally. Almost makes it look round!
 

Looks like a major improvement!! My main projects at my church lately are how to get two high places out of the floor, and carpet cleaning. Another member went in with me last week with surveying equipment, and we figured out a plan for the floor.
 
No, the black board under it is part of the furniture dolly it is on. Yes, I do have some toys!
