Cant see worth a darn when driving at night, never had a problem till the 17th of dec, driving to St Paul, notice it all the time now. Also have trouble focusing at times, with a slight dizziness, nightime or day time. Eye doc says everything looks good in my eyes, passed all tests, gave me a prescription which is the same as I have now, only with bifocals if I think I would need them. Wife says to make a doc appt, what could affect eyesight like this all of a sudden?Come and goes, some times worst. At times it seems like I would if I was half in the bag. Any one expereince anything like this and found the cause.

Yep I have the same thing. Blame it on certain circumstances.

evening is the most difficult. just after sunset.
sometimes can barely see the road then if I stop somewhere for a bit like a store , come back out and every thing is clear as a bell.

Humidity, and aging eyes do work against each other.
I notice it is best if I keep my windshield, and headlights clean.

Change your head lamps too they may be getting weak these new fangled bulbs do loose their brightness. and yellow lenses don't help.

Did you see am ophthalmologist or an optometrist? BIG difference.

An optometrist is trained to fit glasses an ophthalmologist is a licensed doctor capable of operating on the eye.

Are you diabetic? How old are you?

Please get a complete checkup.

blood pressure and blood sugar is said to effect eyesight..... I have a hard time at night on a two lane road with oncoming traffic x10 if roads are wet and gleaming also... I've found it helps to look at the right shoulder line when oncoming traffic is shining you... But it sounds like you have a medical problem that is effecting your eyes......

For good reasons it is important to see a brain circulatory specialist. Micro strokes can change vision and other mental processing capacity with little or mo warning, and near instant effect. They also may not affect any other factor or even be felt when they happen. Be sure to emphasize to the specialist that ti was clearly rapid onset, and noticed when it happened. Best of luck. Jim

Get a complete physical examination, AND get an eye examination by an ophthalmologist (an MD, not an optometrists).

Actually, many optometrists are very good at diagnosing early signs of eye disease. But if you already went to an optometrist who found nothing wrong, it's time to get another opinion.

If you have place near you like "The Wilmer Eye Institute" at John Hopkins. Make an appointment
ASAP. Are you diabetic? If you don't know I would make an appointment to get blood drawn. Need to fast at least 12 hours before getting it drawn. Hal

Check your medications for the problems. A lot of the medications that our trusted doctors feed us require other medications to fight the side effects of the initial medications....endless circle.

Don't know how you got it down to the day but that might be the clue. Think hard on what might have went on that day or week. New medicine, bump your head, start a new diet, or just a headache that that came upon you.

Find an eye doctor IN A MEDICL CLINIC. A friend of mine had sight problems and went to many in store eye exams. Finally went to the eye doctor in the clinic, who refered him to an MD. He had a brain tumor. They found it early enough that they pulled him through.

If it came on suddenly it could be a ministroke. It's painless and you don't know it's happening till your vision is altered. It happened to a friend of mine. Jim

Dave from MN,

This has to affect peoples eyes, if not today then later in life depending on exposure.

Have you noticed some of the (POWER PLANTS) lights on newer vehicles, and the ones that blind you on a curve they are brighter than any ordinary hi beam.
The same guys also have the running lights and the fog (white) lights on, in the bottom corners.

On a dark rainy night it's just a guess to where the center line is.

by chance do you use artifical sweetners like nutra-sweet? i read an article awhile back that said it can affect nite vision. just a thought. here is a link to an article
poke here

my night vision went to pot right about the same time I was diagnos'd with "pre-diabetes". A rainy night with lots of headlight glare really blows. I've also found, though, that a really clean windshield (inside and out) and really clean glasses are a big help.

Exactly....... Never thought of it like that, but it could be just as much the technology getting newer as us getting older.....
