I was just reading where the UK is considering big time welfare reform after a government study revealed that welfare recipients actually had more spendable money than the average wage earner, who also happened to be taxpayers. I hope they succeed and it catches on in the US, the confiscation of some of the peoples earnings to support other, able bodied, but irresponsible and lazy people is in itself immoral, allowing those same people to breed and expand the cesspool is nothing short of outrageous.
 
now you know we cant be talking like that they MAKE a good living on the system get handicap parking to hell some of em even have to stay up all hours of night trying to scam more better quit i guess terry
 
Just give everyone a 6mo notice that the free money is going to stop. They all can start looking for ways to support themselves. We all had to do this sometime in our lives. Most of us did it because we were taught at a youg age. If you want a better life you have to work for it.Jim
 
Oh I just read the self esteem thread. Not everyone's a winner, winners work hard. Therefore hard work =self esteem its basic, or did I grow up wrong.Jim
 
I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but my daughter went on unemployment when the restaurant she was working in shut down. She milked it through one extension until they cut her off. It was surprising how quick she found a job in the local feed store. There are jobs out there for those who can work, even for a lower wage.
 
The best cure for welfare is a job.
Once the gravy train stops it is amazing how people get off their duff and try to get a job. The abuse of the food stamp handouts should make any decent person puke. And state governments wonder why they are running in the red. All the nations of Europe that are in the insolvency point have massive freebies to the residents. Greece in particular.
 
Working as a supervisor at a rendering plant about 15 years ago making about 40K a year. Some of the hourly employees had "girl friends" between their WIC money and public housing and the guy's wages they had more coin in their pockets than me, they drove nicer cars that they traded more often than I did. But that's the American way work hard so you can be taxed and your money given to someone that doesn't want to work.
 
I had the radio on in the tractor the other day and this topic was being debated(here in the UK) They were interviewing two sisters at an infants school. One sister worked and got £11,000 per year plus some child support bringing her total up to £14,000. The other sister did not work at all and had the equivalent of £26,000 per year!!! All you need to do over here boys is get yourselves pregnant and sit and wait for it to roll in!!!

Well if ole external_link-bin-ladin has his way it will only get worse. How else do you get control over your people? Worked great in Germany years ago!
 
They're doing that here in Michigan. 4 or 5 yr maximum for welfare. Of course there was a lawsuit by the libs and the court said the "state didn't give proper notice". Something about poor wording on the notices they sent out. So, they redid the notices and sent them out and NOW they can cut them off. Everyone's wailing about how it's hurting kids.

What really ticks me off is that in Detroit, ALL kids get a free lunch now because they said it was "humiliating" for kids that got them to be looked upon as different. So, a kid whose mom/dad works on the line at an auto plant with great benefits, pension and probably makes over $25/hr now gets a free lunch to boot.
