Ford 5.4 triton engine questions

I have a 99 f250 with a 5.4 Triton engine
and its having problems with no power
(well even less than it had to begin with)
and excessive pinging during
acceleration but its not throwing any
codes so I"m leaning towards it having
either low fuel pressure or stopped up
cats. So I"m looking for the fuel pressure
specs. I called our local Ford dealer and
asked them of course they were gonna
look it up and call me back that was two
weeks ago...... if anyone has any theory
of what"s causing my problems or if you
know the fuel pressure specs please let
me know any help will be greatly
appreciated thanks

the obvious question, you didn't state how many miles on it,,,when was the last time you changed gas/air filter,// i have a explorer with 88000 miles, just put in a fuel pump,,, was going down street, pedal going to floor, no power, quit, no code either// yes it could possible the cats, depending on how hard you floor it, if you are using for hauling, etc..

Sorry I forgot to mention the miles it has 155000 and it has a 10k on new fuel pump (from ford) also replaced the idle air control throttle position sensor and 4 cop's and new motorcraft plugs at that time same problem then I finally just gave up on it but pulling season is coming up and I would like to get it straightened out and running cause hauling an 8500lb tractor is no fun with no power

not being pushing, with today's gas, is filter o-k or maybe getting plugged up, when was changed last,,i was told to change around 10-15k miles,,now if u can disco cats, you might be able to see if power comes back..p/s a new pump today doesn't mean it's good,,, how about the sensor on intake tube by air filter,,,all else fails, trade it,,lol

just missed your last posting, was typing my reply...lol,,,not be a smart-@@@, but to have pressure, need good pump, filter for fuel to reach rails to check pressure. i see some one posted psi spec that the ford idiots didn't get back to you with..somthing may be giving comptr false reading that are not showing up on codes when checked...

going to bed, just thought of something else,,,log on ford truck enthusiasts.com---there you can log in and find out what others have to say about their trucks..

Check the egr valve or its passages are not clogged also, or the vac line is not cracked or off, could be causing your pinging.

LOTS of things could come into play here. You should see about 30 psi at idle and about 39 on accel roughly. Basically you want it to increase with load, if it drops you have a fuel delivery issue, but thats probably not your problem. It is easiest to check so do that first. Is your ping at light accel or even hard accel? Try unplugging your MAF, this will richen the mixture a bit, does the ping go away? If so you could have a contaminated or failing MAF sensor. Do you have any oil consumption issues, if so you may have carbon buildup issues.I believe those have knock sensors, so any pinging can result in low power due to timing being retarded to try to eliminate it. Carboned shut EGR passages can cause issues, but almost always set P0401, and EGR is disabled an hard accel so unless it is only light to moderate accel ping its prob not egr. Without hooking a scan tool to it and looking at fuel trim pids, timing, MAF, HEGOs, Baro, and a few others I can't help you much more. I was thinking there was a different spark plug available also for ping issue in towing applications, but I am not sure it was for 99 era engines or the newer generation, sorry. Basically a colder plug. Hope this helps .
