I could really use some help...... trying to Figure out if this Block #(356980 R1) is a Replacement block for a M or where did this block come from.....

NEED THE PAPER WORK TO GO ALONG WITH THIS AS WELL........

CALL ME 402-218-5381........

That casting was used in SM, SMTA, SW6, SW6TA. early farmall 400 and international 400 and called a C-264 engine. Engine serial # or a date code would give some idea which.

What paper work there is might be a copy of the parts manual, or screen print of the on line manual (caseih.com) but D Slater has the right answer, and you could print out what he posted!! (I would take it as Gospel!) Jim

Don't think that # was used as a replacement block from IH. It probably came from a different tractor. Look for a serial # on the right side of the block. Just above the tin pan on the side of block that runs behind the oil filter and ignition system. Find a raised flat spot on the block and serial # stamped in. You can find two raised spots, most of those blocks is on the one near center. If not found there look at the one near front.
