White 5100 Planter

I am thinking of taking a White 5100 Wide 8 row and
making it a 10 row 30 inch planter.. Is their any
reason this cant be done? Look like everything is
adjustable.. Just wanted some info before I do this.
Thanks!

Only problems I see are rows hitting hinge points if it's a fold up one and maybe running out of air pressure adding 2 more rows. I don't know how much "reserve" there is in the blower system to take on 20% more work.

I used to have a 5100 4 row. I narrowed it down to 30". I assume your wheel/lift assemblies are the same? But you have 4? They had 9.5L tires yet still fit between the row units.
Is this a solid frame, or fold up?

So you have a lot more to deal with than I know anything about. When you are planting, is it carried by four wheels which are between the units?

google new ag talk go to the forums section(you may have to register but its easy and free) There is a guy on there that has done exactly this project.

If the hinge points are not in the wrong place it can be easily done. There are several around here that have been converted to narrow row bean planters. They just left a 30 inch row where the lift wheels attached and then the rest where 15 inch spacing. So yours just going to 30 inch should be much easier.

Yes it can be done without too much trouble. My good friend Steve did it 4 or 5 years ogo, worked out well. He said you can give him a call with any questions. His cell number is 1-712-579-1320.Good luck with your project !
